The Communication Technology Laboratory at the National Sun Yat-sen University had the esteemed privilege of hosting a visit from three renowned Scholars in the field of Communications Engineering - Kai-Kit Wong (University College London, UK), Professor Geoffrey Li (Imperial College London, UK), Professor Li-Chun Wang (National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University).

The research team presented the RIS-assisted MIMO communication technology developed by the 6G Communication and Sensing Center to the visiting experts. This is a significant milestone as it is the first implementation of active RIS-assisted MIMO-OFDM within the 5G NR framework. This development provides practical insights into the implementation of RIS technology in 5G NR systems. We implemented various practical RIS-assisted MIMO control algorithms on a unified platform and conducted real-world testing to directly compare the effectiveness of different methods.

During the laboratory visit, the research team engaged in in-depth discussions and listened to insights from the three visiting experts. Following the event, we further discussed various subsequent collaborations, including joint testing, publications, and cooperative projects. This exchange has been highly beneficial for us. The visit has not only provided valuable guidance and inspiration to our team but also reaffirmed the laboratory's commitment to excellence in research and innovation, resulting in fruitful outcomes.
