Educating Talents
To educate professionals in 6G communications technology, we focus on foundational knowledge and on integrating advanced technologies and practical applications through international research, industry-academia collaboration, and system integration applications (e.g., 5G/6G communication platforms or MIMO radar systems). These international industry-academia collaborations have enhanced our team's practical experience and global connections. There were 12 Taiwanese and 10 international PhD students on our research team in 2023.
Facing the challenge of declining birth rates in Taiwan, we have been committed to educating international talent. Over the past three years, we have trained 21 international master's students and 10 international PhD students and recruited five international postdoctoral researchers. Additionally, in line with the government's New Southbound Policy, we actively recruit talent from India, Indonesia, and the Philippines.
We encourage students to participate in international conferences. In 2023, nine students presented their research and exchanged ideas with global researchers in communications and sensing at international conferences. To help students and research team members understand global trends in 6G communications and sensing, we invited several international scholars to give lectures (a total of 17 scholars). We organized numerous Taiwan-UK bilateral online seminars and invited universities in southern Taiwan to participate. Students and researchers gain international perspectives, practical skills, and interdisciplinary thinking from these activities. Those high-level research talent can upgrade Taiwan's future technology, industry transformation, and forward-looking R&D.
