➠<International Collaborations> The 6G Communication and Sensing Research Center invited Professor Pai-Yen Chen as a guest expert to offer the course “International Electromagnetic Wave Practice Training.”

2025/08/01~2025/08/15

The 6G Communication and Sensing Research Center welcomed Professor Pai-Yen Chen of the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) as a guest lecturer to deliver an intensive course, “International Electromagnetic Wave Practice Training.” Prof. Chen, a faculty member in UIC’s Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, specializes in applied electromagnetics, microwave and photonic technologies, wireless sensing, and integrated systems.

The course bridged fundamentals and practice—starting from electromagnetic wave theory and moving into high-frequency microwave and optical-band sensing and communications. Topics included antenna design, RF integrated circuits, millimeter-wave sensors, and integrated sensing and communication (ISAC)—core technologies for current and future wireless systems.

Emphasizing cross-disciplinary co-design, the program integrated physics–device–circuit–system thinking with hands-on applications in IoT, smart sensing, wearables, and wireless power transfer. Participants advanced from simulation to hardware validation using tools such as ADS and HFSS, culminating in measurements with network analyzers. The engagement deepened campus expertise in next-generation communications and sensing while opening new pathways for interdisciplinary research and international collaboration.
