NSYSU Secures Hosting Rights for IEEE iWEM 2028

Prof. Kin-Lu Wong and Prof. Chow-Yen-Desmond Sim attended the IEEE International Workshop on Electromagnetics (iWEM 2025) held at City University of Hong Kong from August 4 to 6, 2025.

The iWEM series traces its origins back to 2010, when it was first held in Taipei under the name International Conference on Applications of Electromagnetism and Student Innovation Awards (2010 ICAE/SIA). In 2011, it was renamed the IEEE International Workshop on Electromagnetics: Applications and Student Innovation Competition (IEEE iWEM). Since then, the workshop has rotated annually among Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, and Japan, serving as a prominent platform for international academic exchange among scientists and engineers, while also offering young scholars and students valuable opportunities to showcase their innovative achievements.

During the International Steering Committee meeting at iWEM 2025, Prof. Chow-Yen-Desmond Sim delivered a proposal to host the 2028 edition of the conference at National Sun Yat-sen University (NSYSU). Following extensive preparation and enthusiastic discussions among committee members, Professor Shen, representing NSYSU’s Department of Electrical Engineering and the 6G Communication and Sensing Research Center, successfully secured the hosting rights for iWEM 2028.

This achievement holds great significance for advancing research in related fields and further elevates NSYSU’s reputation in the international academic community. Researchers at the Center look forward to welcoming leading experts and scholars from around the world to Kaohsiung for iWEM 2028, where meaningful exchange and collaboration will continue to thrive.
